The legal landscape for non-Muslims in the UAE has seen transformative changes with the introduction of Federal Decree-Law No. 41 of 2022.
This law revises regulations around key family affairs such as marriage, divorce, inheritance, and child custody exclusively for non-Muslim residents. Moreover, Abu Dhabi has set progressive standards with Laws No. 14 and 15 of 2021, which provide for civil marriages, joint custody, and equal inheritance rights, moving towards greater gender equality and legal flexibility.
