International divorce is the legal process of terminating your marriage i.e. ending the legal relationship you entered into when marrying. There is only one ground for divorce in England: That the marriage has broken down, irretrievably.
The petitioner is the person who instigates a divorce, and they must prove that the marriage has broken down irretrievably based on one of the following factors:
That the respondent (person being claimed against) has committed adultery. A petitioner cannot cite their own adultery as a factor
The respondent has behaved unreasonably
The respondent has deserted the petitioner for two years or more
Both parties (petitioner and respondent) have lived separately for at least two years
Both parties have lived apart for at least five years
International divorce is often challenging and specialist advice from a family solicitor should always be sought. It’s important to note that the process of divorce is not concerned with the financial aspects of the marriage, but simply with the relationship itself.
Many people deny themselves legal advice due to a fear of high legal costs. At Aramas Law we offer clear and transparent legal fees, with no hidden extras. You will always know what you’re paying right from the start. At present the fee for making a divorce application through the courts is £550. This fee is fixed and is the same for all applicants. Aramas Law can offer you a fixed fee package for your divorce, so you can keep control of your legal costs. We keep our fees at low competitive prices because we believe justice should be within reach of everyone.
Aramas law can take you through all aspects of your divorce, making it less stressful emotionally, and financially.
